LifeXchange - Youth Development
Our story
Our story is very straight forward and simple. Every year, for the past few decades, we see new youth-at-risk intervention organizations opening their doors. Everyone with a good idea, a ‘nice project’ or an idea that connects with the theme of the day (Mandela Day, World Cup Event etc) registers as an NPO and starts the journey of seeking funding. Many organizations make the news for the mismanagement of these funds, some make the news for the flash-in-the-pan work they’ve achieved, and others don’t make any news at all. This said, everyone means well, is sincere and everyone is working hard to make a positive change, and credit to fellow South Africans for making a stand make a change, yet alarmingly, even with all these efforts, the youth-at-risk statistics are constantly on the rise!
There is research which shows as little as 3% success for some intervention methods and the global figure for relapse, in a drug rehabilitation context, is 80%. Surely there must be a more effective, more accurate and more sustainable way?
The start of LifeXchange in 2007, we believe, was the dawn of a new era for youth-at-risk intervention. LifeXchange has a highly qualified team working full time in the field of scientific research in all areas of youth-at-risk intervention as well as currently developing a process that leads to holistic sustainable transformation. Everything learned and everything developed are implemented daily and tested in real life situations. The current results are astonishing and completely mind blowing. We are already accomplishing more than most conventional intervention programmes, seeing true transformation and a transformation that is sustainable and will last forever going forwards into the next generation.
The LifeXchange legacy will be remembered as the story of a few passionate people that caused a paradigm shift concerning youth-at-risk intervention, who gave an answer to the global youth-at-risk dilemma and lead many young people to successful, purposeful and meaningful lives.
